FAQ’s

What should I do before coming in?

It would be helpful to do some preliminary looking before coming in.  For some people that may mean looking online at images on Instagram or Pinterest.  It would be even more beneficial to have tried on a few styles so that you have an idea of what you are looking for.  This way  you can make the most of your appointment with Lisa’s Bridal and our extensive collection.  We currently have over 400 wedding gowns in the store.

Do you charge for your bridal appointments?

We do not charge a fee for your initial bridal shopping appointments. We will require a credit card number to hold your appointment. A $50 fee will be processed for no-shows and cancellations made with less than 24 hours notice. After 2 complimentary visits (first & return), there will be a fee should you require a third visit. This additional appointment fee will be applied to your wedding gown purchase that day!

We may have events or special appointment types at an additional charge. Information about these appointment types will be listed on our website when available.

Is there anything I should bring to my appointment?

Feel free to bring in pictures from designer websites or from previous bridal appointments to illustrate to your consultant the features that appeal to you.  Please wear appropriate undergarments and if you have a strapless bra, you may find it beneficial to wear it that day.

How long does it take to order a gown?

Please be aware that some designers are experiencing delays in their supplies, production and shipping. Wedding gowns estimates are 4-6 months.  Special occasions dress estimates are 5 months.  Accessory items; such as headpieces and veils estimate 2-3 months. Please note, these are estimates only. Some dresses are able to come in sooner and others take longer. Speak to your consultant about the ordering time for your selected items.

How much is the deposit to place my order?

We require a deposit of 50%.  This payment may be made by cash, cheque, debit, visa or mastercard.  At the time of purchase you will be asked to sign a contract which will detail the terms of purchase. Please be aware we cannot accept cheques on day of pick up.

FAQ’s after purchase

What happens when my gown arrives?

You will be contacted by telephone to be notified of your gowns arrival.  At that time we will make an appointment for you to come in, view your gown and complete payment. We recommend to all of our brides to come in and finalize accessories at this time as a 2-3 month ordering time applies in most cases.

When should I start my alterations?

Once you have your shoes and undergarments you are welcome to start your alterations process. We strongly recommend starting your alterations a minimum of 3-4 months before your wedding. If you elect to wait until closer to your event, sewing time may not be available.

How many fittings will I have?

We book 2 appointments for each gown altered.  At the first appointment, the seamstress will pin your gown and provide you with the cost of the alterations.  At the second appointment, the alterations will be completed as well as the pressing of the gown.  If at the second appointment your gown does not require any further adjustments please be prepared to take your gown home.  These appointments are booked with the seamstress who can assist you with the fit of the gown.  If you would like to look at accessories, please book a separate appointment with a consultant on our bridal floor.

Do I have to have my dress altered at Lisa's Bridal?

No, you are not required to have your gown altered at Lisa’s Bridal.  We do recommend using a qualified, experienced seamstress.  If you choose to have us alter your gown, please be aware that alterations are at an additional charge.

What should I bring to my fitting?

Please bring your shoes and any special undergarments (i.e. bustier) that you plan to wear with your dress as this will affect the fit.

Can I bring my family and friends to my fitting?

You are more than welcome to bring a friend or family member.  We ask that you limit your party to no more than 2 guests as you may find it distracting to have a large group with you when you are trying to concentrate on the fit of your gown.
