Seamstress

Lisa’s Bridal is the longest-running bridal store in the Lower Mainland and Fraser Valley, proudly serving brides for generations. Our alterations department has built a longstanding reputation for exceptional workmanship, professionalism, and customer care, and we are seeking experienced Bridal Seamstresses and Fitters to join our busy New Westminster location for the upcoming bridal and prom seasons.

This is a high-level bridal alterations role suited for experienced professionals who are confident working independently in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. We are seeking skilled seamstresses who can provide exceptional one-on-one service to brides while delivering the Lisa’s Bridal Gold Standard of customer care.

Successful candidates must possess gracious communication skills, professionalism, patience, and strong problem-solving abilities when handling complex fittings and alterations. Bridal alterations are highly personal, and we are looking for someone who can make brides feel comfortable, confident, and cared for throughout the fitting process.

Candidates should have a minimum of 2–3 years of experience working with wedding gowns, formalwear, or luxury garments in a production-focused alterations environment. This is not an entry-level training position. We are seeking seamstresses who can confidently manage fittings, alterations, and deadlines independently while maintaining exceptional quality standards.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Conducting bridal and formalwear fittings directly with brides
  • Completing alterations accurately and within required timelines
  • Performing bridal-specific alterations including hemming multiple layers, bustle creation, corset adjustments, lace and beadwork modifications, strap and sleeve adjustments, resizing, and gown finishing
  • Working with delicate fabrics including lace, tulle, satin, chiffon, and heavily detailed gowns
  • Operating industrial sewing and pressing equipment safely and efficiently
  • Maintaining detailed fitting notes and ensuring all work is completed to a high professional standard
  • Managing multiple gowns and alteration deadlines simultaneously during peak bridal and prom seasons

This role is physically demanding and requires standing for extended periods, lifting and moving gowns and garment bags, working with industrial sewing and pressing equipment, and performing repetitive detailed sewing work in a fast-paced environment.

Ideal Candidates Will Possess:

  • Minimum 2–3 years of bridal or formalwear alterations experience
  • Strong fitting, sewing, and garment construction knowledge
  • Exceptional attention to detail and finishing quality
  • Professional and customer-focused communication skills
  • Ability to problem solve and recommend alteration solutions confidently
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Reliability, punctuality, and the ability to work independently
  • Availability that reflects the seasonal demands and deadlines of the bridal industry

At Lisa’s Bridal, we take pride in helping brides feel confident, comfortable, and beautifully fitted for one of the most important moments of their lives. We are looking for experienced professionals who share that same commitment to quality and care.
